How does Toto Finance's technology work? Toto Finance's system works across five layers: asset verification, legal ownership, token issuance, digital settlement and physical delivery. Three components run the platform. Toto Rails controls issuance and transfer eligibility. Toto Clear handles stablecoin settlement and the conversion of future-production claims into physical commodity tokens. Toto Logistics keeps each token linked to its underlying asset through custody, tracking and redemption. Tokens are issued only against verified assets and are removed from circulation when the commodity is physically redeemed.

Five layers

  1. Asset verificationBefore anything is tokenized, independent parties confirm the asset. Reserves are verified through technical reports by qualified persons under recognized codes. Refined metal is verified through warehouse receipts, assay certificates and custodian attestations. Ownership and production rights are verified through legal due diligence. The output is a verification record that the token references.
  2. Legal ownershipA legal structure defines exactly what each token represents and makes the claim enforceable: title to allocated cathode, a forward right to defined production, or a right linked to verified reserves. The structure is documented per product and governs what holders own if any participant fails.
  3. Token issuanceSmart contracts mint tokens only against verified assets and only to eligible holders. Token supply is reconciled against inventory and production records, and every token carries a reference to its provenance and verification. Issuance and transfer rules are enforced by Toto Rails.
  4. Digital settlementTransfers settle against U.S. dollar stablecoins in a single atomic transaction, so neither party delivers without receiving. Toto Clear also converts future-production claims into physical commodity tokens as metal is delivered into custody.
  5. Physical deliveryToto Logistics links each token to the custody location, condition and status of its underlying metal, tracks movement from mine through processing to warehouse, and executes redemption: a holder surrenders tokens, receives cathode at an approved location and the tokens are burned.

Platform components

Toto Rails

Toto Rails is the eligibility and control layer. It determines which wallets may receive a given token based on the identity, jurisdiction and suitability checks completed for that product, enforces transfer restrictions on-chain and provides the compliance record that regulated participants need. In business terms, it means a producer's tokens reach only qualified capital, and an institution knows every counterparty in its transfer history was verified.

Toto Clear

Toto Clear is the settlement layer. It executes delivery-versus-payment transfers in stablecoins and manages the lifecycle of future-production claims: issuance in tranches against a production schedule, conversion into physical tokens when metal is delivered into custody, and handling of delays or shortfalls under the terms defined in advance. In business terms, settlement that takes 5 to 30 days in cross-border commodity trade completes in seconds.

Toto Logistics

Toto Logistics is the physical layer. It integrates with vault and warehouse partners to reconcile inventory against token supply, records assay, location and status as metal moves, and operates the redemption process. In business terms, it keeps the token honest: every token corresponds to metal that is verified, held and deliverable.

The Toto token (TOTO)

The Toto token is the utility token of the ecosystem. Fees connected with owning Copper Now (COPTT), starting with the storage and insurance fee for the cathodes in the US warehouse, are paid exclusively in TOTO, and further ecosystem services are designed to be paid in it as they launch. The TOTO contract was audited by Hacken in January 2025. See products.

Blockchain

Toto Finance's commodity tokens are built on Ethereum, where the Toto token contract and the retail marketplace already operate. Ethereum provides settlement finality, broad custodian and stablecoin support and an established base of institutional infrastructure. Toto Finance may support additional networks where a product or partner requires it and will state the network for each product. Blockchain choice is an implementation detail; what matters to participants is verified backing, enforceable ownership, eligibility controls and settlement finality.

Pricing and oracles

Tokens representing refined copper are priced by reference to exchange benchmarks such as LME and COMEX, plus or minus a premium for location, financing and redemption optionality. Where smart contracts need a benchmark price, for collateral valuation for example, oracle services carry that price on-chain. Toto Finance discloses the pricing reference and oracle arrangements for each product. Oracles do not set the price of a token; markets do.

Security and audit

The Toto token contract received an independent security audit by Hacken, completed on January 27, 2025, with findings remediated. New contracts are audited before deployment. Operational controls cover key management, access control, change management and incident response. Toto Finance does not publish its full security architecture; institutions may request further detail under confidentiality.

Compliance by design

Compliance is implemented in the transfer logic rather than layered on afterwards. Identity, sanctions and eligibility checks are completed before a wallet can hold a token; transfer restrictions are enforced by the contract; records are available for audit. Toto Finance operates on a compliance-first basis, does not hold financial services licenses in its own name and works with licensed partners where a licensed activity is required. The exact relationship is described for each product.

What is live and what is in development

  • Live since 2023: the retail marketplace, with more than 45,000 physically backed tokenized assets issued, over 5,000 token holders and physical redemptions executed.
  • Audited: the Toto token contract (Hacken, January 2025).
  • In development: the three copper products, Copper Now (COPTT), Copper in Future (COPTTR) and Copper Yield (COPTTY), applying the five-layer architecture to refined supply in US LME-approved warehouses, reserves entering production and copper royalty streams.
  • Demonstrated: the business-to-business platform is at the demo stage.

Intellectual property

Toto Finance owns the core software, platform architecture, tokenization workflows, compliance systems, documentation and operating know-how behind its commodity platform. The technology was spun out of a digital asset platform with nearly a decade of operating experience, and the team has spent the past three years applying that infrastructure to commodity tokenization. Key workflows and methods are protected as trade secrets; code and documentation are protected by copyright. Toto Finance trademarks are registered in the European Union, Germany and Liechtenstein, with a United States application underway.
