Toto Finance Founder and Chairman Monty C. M. Metzger delivers a keynote at Mining Forum Americas 2026, held at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs from September 27 to 30. His address, Capital for Humanity: Tokenization and the Next Financing Pathway for Mining, takes place on Tuesday, September 29 at 12:25 PM MDT on Stage 1 in Bartolin Hall and is directed at the mining issuers and investors weighing a capital pathway that did not exist a decade ago. All keynote and panel sessions are livestreamed free of charge during the event and available on demand afterwards.
The keynote
Mining Forum Americas is the largest gathering of its kind in the Americas for precious and base metal producers, developers and the institutions that finance them. Metzger's keynote addresses the question that determines whether tokenization becomes a real financing pathway for the industry: can a mining company convert verified reserves and scheduled production into capital, on transparent terms, from a materially wider pool of investors than royalty, streaming and bank channels reach today?
The address sets out how Toto Finance answers that question in practice. Verified reserves, future production and refined supply are recorded once as digital claims, carried through financing, trading and settlement on one record, and connected to physical delivery when the metal arrives. Investors provide capital against future production; industrial buyers secure supply directly from producers; transactions settle in U.S. dollar stablecoins in seconds rather than weeks. The producer raises capital without diluting shareholders, adding debt or selling a share of output for the life of the mine.
Metzger frames the shift in three waves of tokenization: money, markets and matter. Stablecoins established the rails. Tokenized stocks and funds are bringing financial assets on-chain. The third and largest wave moves the physical economy on-chain, starting with the commodities the electrified, AI-driven economy depends on. Copper is where Toto Finance begins.
Why this audience
The forum's 38th edition is its biggest: a record 206 presenting companies with a combined market capitalization of about USD 1.35 trillion, from 34 countries and across 10 minerals, with more than 1,100 attendees and more than 11,000 one-on-one meetings scheduled over four days, according to the organizers. Copper is the fastest-growing group of presenters, and the program includes sessions on the copper demand created by AI infrastructure, on economic security and supply chains, and on the state of mining in the Americas.
That is precisely the audience for which mine financing is a daily constraint. New copper mines take close to two decades from discovery to first production, and the International Energy Agency projects that supply from existing mines and announced projects will fall roughly 25 percent short of demand by 2035. The capital exists. The projects exist. What is missing is a record and a market structure that connect them earlier, faster and to more participants than bilateral contracts negotiated over months. Commodity financing explains the traditional instruments and their limits; how copper mines are financed goes deeper.
